Brand Strategy and Identity for Australian Businesses

One brand, built to be used everywhere your customers meet you.

SAVVYARDS builds brand systems for Australian businesses: the positioning, logo, colour, type, voice and guidelines that make you recognisable and trusted everywhere. Because we also run the SEO, ads, email and conversion work, every brand is designed to perform in those channels, from product pages to ad creative, not just to look good in a guidelines PDF.

Q01

What is a brand system?

A brand system is the complete set of decisions and tools that make a business recognisable everywhere: positioning, name, logo, colour, typography, tone of voice, and the guidelines and templates that keep them consistent. A logo is one part of it. The system is what lets a website, an ad, an email and a package all look and sound like the same business.

Q02

How much does branding cost in Australia?

It depends on scope more than on the agency. A refresh of an existing identity takes far less work than a full, strategy-led brand system with a new name, logo and templates. You choose 4, 6 or 8 execution hours a day, reserved and billed at the start of each month, and after a free consult we estimate how long your scope takes, so you can plan the total before work starts.

ScopeWhat you get
Brand refreshTightened logo, colour and type; a short guidelines document; key templates
Brand systemPositioning, full visual identity, voice, guidelines and templates for web, social, email and ads
Brand system + launchThe above, applied to your website or Shopify store and launch campaigns

After the consult we estimate how many weeks your scope needs at the daily hours you choose, and confirm it in writing.

Q03

Do you need a rebrand or just a refresh?

Most businesses need a refresh, not a rebrand. If people already recognise your name and logo, keep that recognition and fix consistency and quality. A full rebrand makes sense when your positioning, audience or offer has changed, when the name causes legal or search problems, or when the current brand actively works against you.

A refresh is usually enough whenโ€ฆA rebrand is worth it whenโ€ฆ
Customers recognise your logo and nameYou've moved upmarket or into a new category
The problem is inconsistency across channelsThe name is hard to search, spell or trade mark
The identity looks dated but not wrongYou've merged, split or changed ownership
You need it working in weeks, not monthsThe current brand makes you look smaller or cheaper than you are
Q04

Does branding help SEO and conversion?

Yes, indirectly but measurably. A clear, consistent brand raises trust, so the same traffic converts better and more people search for your name directly. Consistent name, logo and descriptions across your website and profiles also help Google and AI assistants recognise your business as one entity, which supports knowledge panels and AI answers about you.

That's why brand sits inside the same system as our SEO, ads and email work, rather than being a separate design project. We check the effect where it shows up: branded searches in Search Console, conversion rate, and click-through on ads after the brand goes live.

7 deliverables

Brand strategy and positioning

Who you're for, what you stand for and why customers should pick you over the alternatives, written on one page that every later decision is checked against.

Name and trade mark check

If you're naming or renaming, we shortlist names that are easy to say, spell and search, and check them against the Australian trade mark register and domain availability before you fall in love with one.

Logo and visual identity

Logo in every format you'll need, colour palette with accessible contrast, typography, and the graphic elements that make you recognisable without the logo.

Brand voice

How you sound in writing, with examples for product pages, emails, ads and social, so everything reads like one business whoever writes it.

Brand guidelines

A practical rulebook (do this, not that), with real examples, so freelancers, staff and agencies get it right without asking.

Templates and assets

Ready-to-use files for the places you actually publish: social templates, email header and blocks, ad creative layouts, presentation and document templates.

Applied to your website or store

The brand carried through to your website or Shopify theme: colours, type, buttons and product page styling, checked for speed and accessibility.

Need a new site? See web development. Selling online? See ecommerce growth.

Brand Strategy and Identity for Australian Businesses
Who it's for

Who a brand system is for

01

New businesses

That need to launch looking established, not homemade.
02

Growing businesses

Whose look has drifted across the website, social, packaging and ads, and is costing them credibility.
03

Brands moving upmarket

Especially ecommerce and drinks brands, that need the brand to justify a higher price.
Australian rules

Building a brand in Australia: the rules we design around

Check the trade mark before you fall for the name

Registering a business name doesn't give you exclusive rights to it; as ASIC puts it, only a trade mark does. Before we finalise a name or logo, we search the Australian trade mark register so you don't build a brand you'd have to change later. Registration through IP Australia starts at A$250 per class and takes at least seven months.

We search; we don't give legal advice or file applications. For anything contested, we'll recommend a trade mark attorney.

Claims your brand can actually back up

Brand language is marketing, so the Australian Consumer Law applies. The ACCC's guidance on environmental claims lists words like "green", "sustainable" and "clean" as too broad to use without evidence and context. We write positioning and taglines you can substantiate, and flag any claim that needs proof before it goes on a label or a homepage.

The same applies to "Australian made" and similar origin claims: we'll point out where a claim needs checking against the rules before it's used.

Drinks brands: names, labels and packaging

For wine, beer and spirits brands, the brand itself is regulated. The ABAC Code covers product names and packaging as well as ads, and recent decisions have found packaging in breach for looking like soft drinks or confectionery. Labels also need the mandatory pregnancy warning in its set colours, and wine labels can only name a region, variety or vintage that makes up at least 85% of the wine.

We design within these rules from the first sketch, and we recommend ABAC's pre-vetting service and a regulatory check before anything is printed.

Stage 01

Discover

A free consult, then a written review of how your brand shows up today: website, store, social, packaging, ads and competitors. You see what's costing trust before you commit.

Stage 02

Define

Positioning on one page, plus a name and trade mark check if you're naming. Nothing gets designed until this is agreed.

Stage 03

Design

Two or three distinct directions, then one refined with your feedback into the full identity, voice and guidelines.

Stage 04

Apply and check

Templates, files and your website or store updated. After launch we check the effect: branded searches, conversion rate and ad click-through.

  • You own everything we make. Final and editable source files, and the copyright assigned to you in writing. In Australia the creator owns copyright unless it's transferred, so we put the transfer in the agreement.
  • Fonts and images are licensed in your name, so nothing breaks or needs re-licensing if you change agencies.
  • One point of contact. You talk to the person doing the work, with replies the same business day (Sydney time).

Pricing

How brand projects are priced

Brand work runs on the same model as everything else we do. You choose 4, 6 or 8 execution hours a day, and they're reserved for you each month, billed at the start of the month. After the free consult we estimate how many weeks your scope (refresh, brand system, or brand system plus launch) needs at the level you choose, so you can plan the total before we start.

The same hours carry on after launch if you want ongoing design support: month to month, with 14 days' notice. Your rate is confirmed on the free consult.

Brand that performs

Designed by the people who have to make it sell.

Most brand projects end with a PDF. Ours carry on into the product pages, ads and emails we run, so we see straight away whether the brand is helping customers trust you and buy. It's the same performance-first approach behind our Australian wine client's SEO programme: organic revenue up 141% in 12 months.

Quick answers

Brand Strategy and Identity for Australian Businesses โ€” FAQs

What's the difference between a logo and a brand?

A logo is the mark; a brand is everything people recognise and expect from you: positioning, look, voice and experience. A brand system writes those decisions down and turns them into templates, so the brand stays consistent whoever is producing the work.

How long does a brand project take?

It depends on scope and on the daily hours you choose: a refresh is much shorter than a full brand system. After the free consult we estimate the timeline in writing, from the first workshop to delivered guidelines and templates. Naming adds time, because shortlisted names need trade mark and domain checks before you decide.

Do I need to register a trade mark?

It's strongly recommended. Registering a business name doesn't give you exclusive rights to it; only a registered trade mark does. Applications through IP Australia start at A$250 per class and take at least seven months. We check the register before finalising a name or logo; a trade mark attorney can file for you.

Can you design packaging and labels?

Yes, including labels for wine, beer and spirits brands. We design within the ABAC Code and the mandatory pregnancy warning requirements, and we recommend ABAC pre-vetting and a regulatory check before anything goes to print.

Will we own the logo and all the files?

Yes. You receive final and editable source files, copyright is assigned to you in writing, and fonts and images are licensed in your name.

Can you apply the new brand to our existing website or Shopify store?

Yes. We update colours, type, buttons and product page styling in your current site or theme, and check that speed and accessibility don't suffer. If the site needs rebuilding, that's a separate web project.

Do you work with businesses across Australia?

Yes. We work remotely with businesses in every state, from India. Workshops and reviews run by video call in your afternoon, and you talk to the person doing the work.

How involved do we need to be?

Most involved at the start: a workshop and reviews of the positioning and design directions. After that, a few rounds of feedback. Expect a few hours of your time across the project, not weeks.
