What does an email marketing agency do?
An email marketing agency plans, builds and runs the emails your business sends: automated flows triggered by what customers do, such as signing up or leaving a cart, plus planned campaigns and newsletters. A good agency also looks after the list itself: consent records, segmentation, inbox placement and reporting tied to revenue, not just opens.
Is email marketing worth it for Australian online stores?
For most stores, yes, mainly because of automated flows. In Omnisend's 2026 report on 2025 data, automated emails were 2% of email sends but drove 30% of email revenue, earning about 16 times more per send than scheduled campaigns. You also own the list, so no platform can raise the price of reaching it.
Email works best alongside other channels: SEO and paid ads bring new visitors, conversion work turns more of them into subscribers, and email brings them back. For alcohol brands, where paid ads are restricted, an owned list is one of the few direct channels left.
How long does email marketing take to work?
Flows start working the day they go live, because they're triggered by people already visiting and buying. How much they earn depends on your traffic and list size, so we measure the first full month against your starting point. Campaigns and segmentation build on that over the following months as the list grows.
How much does email marketing cost in Australia?
It depends on how many flows need building and how often you send campaigns. We don't sell fixed packages: you choose how many execution hours a day we work, reserved and billed at the start of each month, with no lock-in. Your email platform is billed to you directly. The free email audit shows what to fix first before you spend anything.
Do you work in Klaviyo?
Yes, and in other platforms too. Klaviyo is a common choice for Australian ecommerce brands, and we work in it end to end: setup and migration, flow design, segmentation, templates, A/B tests and revenue reporting. We also work in Mailchimp, Shopify Email, Omnisend or whichever platform you already use, and can move you across cleanly if another platform fits better. The account always stays in your name.
What our Australian email marketing service includes
8 deliverables
Email audit
Your flows, campaigns, list growth, deliverability and Spam Act basics reviewed, with the gaps ranked by the revenue they're likely costing you.
Platform setup and migration
Your platform set up properly, whether that's Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Shopify Email, Omnisend or another, or moved across with your subscribers, consent records and suppression lists intact.
Automated flows
Welcome series, abandoned cart and browse recovery, post-purchase and review requests, replenishment and winback, each triggered by what the customer just did.
Campaigns, design and copy
A campaign calendar built around Australian retail moments (EOFY sales, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Christmas cut-off dates, Boxing Day), with on-brand, mobile-first templates and writing built to get the click.
Segmentation
Customers grouped by what they've bought, how recently and how often, so a first-time buyer and a loyal customer don't get the same email.
Deliverability
SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up on your domain, one-click unsubscribe, list cleaning and sending habits that keep you out of spam folders in Gmail and Outlook.
Spam Act compliance built in
Consent captured and recorded at every sign-up point, sender details in every email, and a working unsubscribe in every commercial message, including order emails that carry promotions.
Reporting tied to revenue
Monthly: revenue per recipient, flow revenue, list growth and unsubscribe rate. Opens are treated as a rough signal only, because Apple Mail's privacy feature counts many emails as opened when they weren't.
Who email marketing is for
Online stores and Shopify brands
Repeat-purchase and subscription brands
Alcohol and other restricted categories
What are the email marketing rules in Australia?
Under the Spam Act 2003, every marketing email or SMS with an Australian link must meet three rules: you have the person's consent, you clearly identify your business, and you include a working unsubscribe. Unsubscribes must be actioned within 5 working days. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) enforces the rules and regularly fines businesses that break them.
| Rule | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Consent | Express consent (they ticked a box or signed up) is safest; you must be able to prove who agreed, when and how. Inferred consent from an existing relationship is narrower and riskier |
| Identify | Your business name and correct contact details in every message, still valid 30 days after sending |
| Unsubscribe | Clear instructions; actioned within 5 working days; no fee, no login, no extra personal details; works for at least 30 days after sending |
Order and delivery emails count if they sell
In March 2026 the ACMA fined Lululemon A$702,900 over more than 370,000 order and delivery emails that promoted sales but had no way to opt out. Any email with promotional content is a marketing message, even if its main job is to confirm an order. We either keep transactional emails free of promotions or give them a compliant unsubscribe.
Unsubscribes have to work on every channel
In July 2026 TAB paid more than A$2.7 million for telemarketing and spam breaches, including over 217,000 marketing emails and SMS sent to customers who had unsubscribed from those channels. We test the unsubscribe path in every flow and campaign, and keep one suppression list across every channel you send on.
Gmail and Outlook sender rules
Gmail requires bulk senders (close to 5,000 or more messages a day to Gmail addresses) to authenticate with SPF, DKIM and DMARC, offer one-click unsubscribe, and keep spam complaints below 0.3%, and since November 2025 it has been stepping up enforcement, including rejecting non-compliant mail. Outlook has sent non-compliant bulk mail to junk since 5 May 2025. We set this up on your domain before the first send, whatever your list size.
Email for alcohol brands (ABAC)
The ABAC Responsible Alcohol Marketing Code covers alcohol marketing in digital and direct-to-consumer media. It says alcohol marketing must not be sent by electronic direct mail to anyone under 18, unless they gave a false age, or to anyone who has asked to be removed from the list. We add date-of-birth capture to sign-up forms, keep under-18s off the list, and check every email's content against the Code.
Privacy rules are tightening
The Privacy Act's direct marketing rules (APP 7) already apply to businesses with more than A$3 million turnover, and to some smaller ones. An exposure draft released on 31 August 2026 would treat disclosing personal information for direct marketing as "trading" that needs prior consent. We keep consent records and data sharing tidy now, so a change in the law doesn't mean rebuilding your list.

Not sure your sign-up forms and unsubscribe would pass?
Audit
Flows, campaigns, list growth, deliverability and Spam Act basics reviewed, with every gap ranked by likely revenue.
Fix the foundations
Domain authentication, consent capture on every form, sender details, one-click unsubscribe and a clean list, before any new sends.
Build the flows
Welcome and abandoned cart first, because they usually earn most, then post-purchase, replenishment and winback.
Plan the campaigns
A calendar around your launches and the Australian retail year, sent to segments rather than the whole list.
Measure and refine
Monthly revenue reporting, tests on subject lines, timing and content, and the next round built on what worked.
- Your list, your account. Klaviyo or your chosen platform stays in your name; the list and the data are yours.
- Month to month. 14 days' notice, no lock-in contract.
- Same business day replies (Sydney time). You talk to the person doing the work.
How our email marketing is priced
You choose how many execution hours a day we work on your email: 4, 6 or 8, reserved for you and billed at the start of each month. The right number depends on your store and list; we recommend one after the free audit. Most brands start with the audit, the foundations and the first two flows before regular campaigns begin. Your email platform's subscription is set up in your name and paid for by you directly. No lock-in contract.
Your rate is confirmed on a free call.
Get a free email audit
Send us your website, then give us access to your email platform and analytics. Within two business days of getting that access, you'll get the three flows or fixes we'd tackle first, ranked by what they're likely worth, plus a quick check of your sign-up forms and unsubscribe against the Spam Act. Yours to keep, whether you work with us or not.
Flows first. Campaigns second. Compliance throughout.
We start with the emails customers trigger themselves, because they reach people at the moment they're most likely to buy. Campaigns come next, sent to segments rather than the whole list. Every form, flow and campaign is checked against the Spam Act before it goes live.
Email Marketing Agency for Australian Ecommerce Brands โ FAQs
How big does my email list need to be?
There's no minimum. Flows such as welcome and abandoned cart earn from your site traffic, not your list size, so they're worth building even with a few hundred subscribers. Campaigns and testing become more useful as the list grows.
Can we buy an email list to grow faster?
No. Bought lists almost never come with consent you can prove, and under the Spam Act the business sending the email has to prove consent. Bought lists also damage your sender reputation. We grow lists through your website, checkout and offers people sign up for.
Do you write the emails, or do we?
We do: strategy, copy, design, build and sending. You approve campaigns before they go out, and we use your product knowledge and brand voice. Flows are approved once, then run automatically.
Can you move us from Mailchimp to Klaviyo?
Yes. We move your subscribers, consent records, unsubscribes and key segments, rebuild the flows and templates, and warm up sending from the new platform so inbox placement holds. Unsubscribed contacts stay suppressed.
Can alcohol brands send marketing emails in Australia?
Yes, to adults who have signed up. The ABAC Code says alcohol marketing must not be sent by electronic direct mail to anyone under 18 or to anyone who asked to be removed. We add date-of-birth capture to sign-up forms and check each email's content against the Code.
How do you measure email marketing results?
By revenue: revenue per recipient, flow revenue, campaign revenue and list growth, checked against your store's own sales data. Open rates are only a rough signal, because Apple Mail's privacy feature counts many emails as opened when they weren't.
Do you work with businesses across Australia?
Yes. We work remotely with businesses in every state, from India. Calls are booked for your afternoon, and you get a written note on what changed each working day.
